List of camera that do not "phone home" (contact external servers)?

Main Post:

Hi there,

I'm looking for cameras that are run purely locally. The reason is that i would like to use this as a baby monitor, and obviously privacy and security are at top of mind there

I would need something that:

  • Works with HA
  • doesn't contact any external/3rd party servers
  • preferably with pan and tilt

I have a TP-Link Tapo C200, but i'm pretty sure that thing has some sort of direct feed to TP-Link servers

I read that i could solve this with an 'upstream' firewall, but i am not that tech-savvy yet, so prefer out of the box (or minor tinkering)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you!!

Top Comment: I think it depends if you're happy to block it at the vlan or firewall level. I've got Wyze, Unifi & Annke. All work well after setup without internet access but none do pan or tilt. I've no doubt they're all trying to phone home, but they're on a vlan that can't reach out so all good as far as I can tell. The Annke camera's angle is wide enough I've never needed to pan or tilt. It's miles ahead of the other two brands.

Creating off contact at home with no press?

Main Post:

Hello everyone. I am new to screen printing and I am aware of the importance of off contact. However I do not have a printing press and will be printing at home on a table with no hinge clamps or anything. I have black water based speedball ink printing through a 43T (110) mesh onto a white t-shirt. I have seen others not bother with off contact for one colour water based ink prints but I was wondering if anyone could give their opinions and advice on what I should do. In advance, thank you very much! :)

Home Assistant SwitchBot MQTT integration using D1 mini ESP32 | SwitchBot Motion Sensor & SwitchBot Contact Sensor (Video/Article Tutorial)

Main Post:

SwitchBot offers a battery powered Motion Sensor and Contact sensors that are working perfectly fine if you also have a SwitchBot Hub Mini.

What if you want to go local and you want to integrate the SwitchBot Motion Sensor and SwitchBot Contact sensor with Home Assistant or Node-RED for example. Is that possible at all?

Let’s find out!

Direct home shortcut to Telegram video call for a contact?

Main Post:

I'd like to add a shortcut to Nova Launcher where I can video call my wife in one click, like what's possible with WhatsApp.

I have Sesame, Nova Launcher, Android 12. So far can't figure out how to do it...

How Do I Connect Wired Contact Sensors to Home Assistant

Main Post:

Here's my question: I want to put in a security system that doesn't need batteries to function. I know how to do the networking or coding items (I have my eye on some new POE equipment and am setting up dedicated UPS) but I also want to use wired contact sensors like these to set up a home assistant integrated alarm system. Is there something I can connect these to for home assistant to register an open or closed state, and if so what in the world is it called?

Home builder asking contact of my prospective home inspector

Main Post:

Hi all,

I am having a rough in walk through of our new construction on March 14. I got really nice recommendations for home inspectors. I also asked permission of my builder to get my house inspected. They are asking for contact of my home inspector. Is it normal? Why would they need the contact of home inspectors. I am so confused. Any thoughts??

Thanks

Top Comment:

It could be as something as simple as they need to fill out some liability forms and job site orientation since it's and active construction site, just curious who's the builder?
